Apex Breaks lays down heavy funk with hits of hip-hop, soul, rock, dub and a big slopping plate of psychedelia. Made of some of Victoria's best musicians from a variety of beloved projects, when Apex Breaks is on the stage they radiate joy and fun as they indulge the audience in their shared love of music and the bonds of musical community."
Though there are many genres splattered throughout their set, the three main sounds are evident in the moniker the band has chosen for themselves ‘Psychedelic jungle funk’. It's is not only the sound but the essence of being is at the heart of Apex Breaks.
Psychedelic for the delay-soaked, shapeshifting breakdowns along with their stage attire.
Jungle for the lightspeed drums that are either matched by rest of the band or allowed to take center stage.
Funk for the bands free-spirited approach to music that makes something out of nothing.
